So what is a crochet designer supposed to do when she is restricted to the house as she recovers from knee surgery? Create beautiful things for the home, of course! Enter the Cobble Pillow, a crochet pattern born out of necessity, creativity, and a yarn stash just waiting to shine. Designed with practicality in mind, this project required nothing more than yarn on hand (or an overnight delivery) and the comfort of a cozy space. No need to venture outdoors for this masterpiece—it’s perfect for crafting and photographing right at home.

You can purchase the full pattern in an easily printable PDF here or here.

The Yarn!

This pattern features Loops & Threads Charisma yarn, a category 5 bulky acrylic yarn known for its softness and vibrant colors. If Charisma isn’t accessible in your area, Premier Yarns Serenity Chunky is an excellent substitute, offering similar qualities and texture, and available through a number of online sources.

Other yarn alternatives include Bernat Softee Chunky or Lion Brand Hue & Me. Keep in mind that you’ll need to swatch and check gauge with these options to ensure your pillow comes out just right.  You could even experiment with holding two strands of worsted weight yarn together. Trying different yarns can add a unique twist to your creation, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

Construction

The pillow is crocheted in three pieces, with the front being done in a variation of the moss/linen stitch using double-crochets which gives the pillow it's "Cobbled" texture.  The three pieces are then seamed together in an envelope style so your pillow form can be easily inserted and removed.  Because of the chunky nature of the yarn, this pillow can be completed in an evening or two.

Customization

Choose colors that complement your decor or go bold with a mix of hues for an eclectic vibe. Feeling modern? Stick to a monochromatic scheme for a sleek, sophisticated look.

Why stop at one? Make a set of pillows in different colors to truly elevate your space. This handmade accent add warmth and personality to any room—and it makes a fantastic gift for loved ones.
