A few years ago, I received a thoughtful gift of 3 skeins of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, and like many makers, I took my time deciding how best to use it. Eventually, I landed on the idea of a summer bucket bag, I had to add a couple more skeins to get it to the size I wanted, but it was worth it.
The Brandy Bucket Bag is just the right size for a day at the lake or a beachside stroll. It offers enough room for the essentials, without being bulky, and transitions beautifully into your evening plans. Whether you're meeting friends for dinner or heading to a local market, this bag will complement your summer wardrobe with ease.

The Yarn!
I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in denim and white. This combination gives the bag a crisp, nautical charm, while the yarn’s mercerized finish adds durability and a subtle polish. The structure holds up well, even after repeated use, making this a reliable choice for daily wear.
If you’re looking to explore other yarns, these options also work beautifully:
Caron All Day Cotton
Lily’s Sugar 'n Cream
Loops & Threads Classic Cotton
Premier Yarns Cotton Sprout
Keep in mind that the final three options are not mercerized. They’ll still produce a lovely result, but you may notice a softer finish.
Construction
This bag is constructed as a single piece and worked in the round. Making it the perfect project for on the go or while binging your favorite show. Once the base is done you just keep crocheting - no counting, no increasing or decreasing, just a great time filling project. The strap is a single row and then woven through the eyelets around the top edge and tied in place, creating a classic silhouette with a relaxed feel.

Customization
One of the best things about the Brandy Bucket Bag is how easily it can be personalized. Choose color combinations that align with your seasonal wardrobe or overall style. Or work it in a single color, go neutral for a bag that will go with everything, or in a bold statement color for a signature look! You can also adjust the strap length & swap out the tie for a braided alternative. Your choices are endless!
