Isn't this the cutest basket?  I don't know about you but as someone running 2 businesses from her home, my office had a lot of smaller items that need to be corralled.  Pens, markers, paperclips, elastics, stitch markers, and even a few random pairs of earrings.

This basket is the perfect size to sit on my desk and keep everything together. Or you can hang the basket from your pegboard to get it off your desk.

Make sure you Pin this Post for later!

The Yarn

This pattern uses Caron One Pound held triple.  Yes, you read that right, you will use three strands of yarn together while you crochet.  This will give you a nice tight stitch, and your basket will stand on its own; no stiffening agent or insert is needed.

You can substitute another worsted-weight yarn, but you will want it to be one of the thicker worsted, such as Red Heart Super Saver, Red Heart With Love, or Loops & Threads Color Craft

This is a great project to use up your scrap and partial balls of worsted-weight yarn that seem to multiply overnight in our stashes.

Your stitches will be tight, and it can take a toll on your hand & wrist if you make a bunch of these all at once.  So please take breaks if you are making these on repeat.

Supplies:

Caron One Pound (or similar worsted-weight Category 4 yarn)

US 10 / J (6.00 mm) crochet hook

Stitch Marker

Tapestry Needle

1.5" Wooden Ring (optional)

Abbreviations

STS - Stitches

SC - Single Crochet

HDC - Half-Double Crochet

BLO - Back loop only

Gauge: 5 sts x 5 rounds = 2" sq, although gauge isn't super important for this project

Finished size: 3.5" diameter x 3" tall

Pattern Notes:

The base of the basket is made in a spiral once you transition to the sides, you will be slip-stitching to join the rounds.

Chain stitches at the beginning of each row do not count as stitches.
