I'm always looking for ways to use up those partial skeins of yarn that seem to multiply overnight in my craft room. You know the ones - there's too much to throw away, but not enough for a big project. So, I have baskets, lots of baskets, full of yarn balls, and I'm running out of space! Because of how my brain works, these baskets are organized by yarn type - cotton, worsted acrylic, bulky, etc. One day, while trying to decide on my next project, the cotton basket caught my eye. About an hour later, the Sunrise Sunglasses Pouch was finished!

The Yarn!

This pouch was made with the tried and true Lily's Sugar n Cream. I know it might not be as flashy as some of the other cotton yarns on the market like Lion Brand 24/7, Caron Cotton Cake, or All Day Cotton, all of which would work for this pattern. But I have a soft spot for Lily. I love the colors, and although it can feel stiff when you first start working with it, it softens up beautifully the more you use it.

Make Ties

Cut 2 lengths of yarn between 14’” - 16” long

With piece lying flat start on the one side and weave 1st draw string through stitches. Knot the ends together, so the string is now a loop.

With the second piece of yarn start on the opposite side and weave through stitches in the opposite direction of the 1st piece.

Knot ends together getting the drawstring to as close to the same length as the 1st one.

Trim all ends.

Customization:

You can make the pouch longer by working a few more rows or wider for your cell phone by adding stitches to your beginning chain.
