Living in New Hampshire, our summer season can seem quite short, so we always try to make the most of the warm sunny days. Which for me means spending as much time as possible in and around water. And with that comes the never-ending search for the perfect beach tote. One that is big enough to carry a towel (or 2), sunscreen, water bottle, a sun hat, sunglasses, my wallet, and the always present book. It also needs to be washable (sand & salt are not a tote bag's friend), and not too heavy.

I know it is a lot to ask of a tote bag, lol!

Well, enter the Jenness Tote, named after a beach here in NH, the large version is big enough to carry everything needed for a day at the beach or at the lake. And I chose colors here that remind me of long summer days.

The smaller version is perfect for a morning at the farmer’s market. I like it to hold my current WIP while I sit outside by the pool. This one, with the colors I chose, looks very much like the sky on sunny summer day with white wispy clouds.

I chose Lily’s Sugar n’ Cream cotton yarn to make it sturdy, washable, and budget friendly. Plus, with the wide selection of colors I could make one to match every bathing suit…if I wanted to.

Want to make your own?

Go ahead and grab the pattern off Etsy or Ravelry, bust your favorite Sugar n’ Cream colors, and make yourself a new summer tote!
