The Yarn

Most of the pillows are made with Caron One Pound.  The exception is the Jolly Pumpkin pillow, which is made with Loops & Threads Soft Classic because Caron One Pound didn't have a good pumpkin color available at the time.  The Jolly Santa hat also uses Bernat Pipsqueak to get Santa's fuzzy brim & pompom.

Other great yarn options are Red Heart Super Saver, Red Heart With Love, Big Twist Value, or Loops & Threads Color Craft. These yarns are all affordable, durable, and widely available, making them perfect for holiday crafting. They are also all acrylics meaning the pillow covers are machine washable and dryable.

Construction

The pillows are crocheted with a larger hook and yarn held double, which is why they work up quickly.  Each pillow is crocheted in three pieces, with the various accents crocheted separately.  This modular approach allows for easy assembly and customization. Finally, the pieces are seamed together in an envelope style so your pillow form can be easily inserted and removed.

Customization

You can easily customize these pillows to match your holiday decor, by changing up the color yarns you choose.  If you prefer a more rustic holiday, switch out the white for an off-white, and the bright reds for burgundy or hunter green. Are you a little more glam?  There are some great sparkly and metallic yarns out there that will add a touch of shimmer to your pillows.
