I knew this throw was going to be named for one of the amazing beaches along the New England coastline, because it just feels like a blanket that you would find folded up on the end of the bed in a beach house. It has such a timeless and classic look, like a fisherman’s sweater.

The Yarn!
This pattern uses Big Twist Tweed held double. It is a medium-weight category 4 acrylic yarn. It is soft and comes in several lovely colors, but the white (which reads a little more off-white/ecru to me), was the perfect neutral for what I was looking for. The subtle flecks of color in the tweed give the blanket interest and depth.
Being an acrylic yarn, the throw will be easy to care for, which is essential for a piece that is meant to be used and loved. If you do not like acrylic yarns, that is of course ok, use your favorite medium-weight fiber in your favorite color. Using cotton yarn would make a great throw for taking to the beach, or wool for a true fisherman sweater vibe.
Construction
This blanket is made holding the yarn double. Along with the larger hook, it grows quickly, so the blanket won’t be one of those “never-ending” projects. The stitch I chose makes for soft and squishy fabric, exactly what you want for snuggling on the couch.
Customization
The pattern includes two sizes; a Throw which measures 40” x 35.5” and a Lapghan which measures 40” x 57”. However, if you prefer a larger or smaller blanket, simply adjust the number of stitches and rows. This flexibility ensures that you can create a blanket that is just the right size for you or your loved ones. Remember if you add rows or stitches for a larger blanket you will need more yarn than is listed in the pattern.
